Public consultation closed
The Consultation period in regard to the planning application on Reading Golf Club land has now officially closed. However if you still wish to object, and have not done so yet, we understand that the Council will continue to accept comments for a little while longer although you may need to do so by email or by letter.
KEG would like to thank everyone in the local community who have made their feelings known by objecting to the plans. We are still waiting for the “final” count from the council, but the objections will be in excess of 2000, which is by far the most any planning application has ever received in Reading.
We will continue to keep everyone in the area informed through KEG emails, newsletters and via our website. We trust that you feel that KEG have put up a good fight so far and with your help we can continue to do so.

What happens next?
There are many possibilities but we anticipate that the council is likely to sit to consider the planning application in December 2020 when we hope they will vote to refuse the application.
If they do, our expectation is that the applicant will appeal against the refusal to grant planning permission and at that point we may need to seek professional advice on planning and indeed legal matters.
What are the other possibilities?
The developer could withdraw their application or they could make modifications to it. Major modifications would have to go to public consultation once again.
Alternatively, despite the overwhelming public opposition, the council could accept the proposal. In that case our options would be limited and we would then seek legal advice and possibly representation.
What is KEG doing now?
Many local residents have been donating their time and services for free, including advice on planning, ecology, drainage and traffic as well as printing and delivering leaflets.
If we do have to fund legal fees we will need to ask for contributions nearer the time. However a number of people have asked how they can support KEG with funds and we therefore decided to open a Just Giving Page to cover ongoing expenses, so a modest contribution at this stage would be most helpful.

In the meantime we will continue to keep everyone in the area informed, and we hope that you feel that KEG has done a good job in this regard. With your support we will continue to do so.
Finally our grateful thanks go out to everyone who has helped in some way or other. Giving advice, producing and delivering leaflets or sharing articles on Facebook and other social media websites. Special thanks also go to the Chalgrove Way residents who did an amazing job delivering thousands of leaflets.
We would also like to thank the Council staff, local Councillors and our MP who have had to deal with many questions from KEG and have given helpful guidance and advice on planning procedures.
